Jessica H. Ouwerkerk
Jessica Hanley Ouwerkerk brings nearly 20 years of experience and proven results in communications and marketing. She began her career working in-house for a regional water agency, starting as a Public Affairs intern and working her way up to Public Affairs Manager. During this time, she designed and executed a wide range of award-winning marketing, public relations, and community outreach initiatives. Her "Water: Do More with Less" water awareness campaign was awarded the American Water Works Association's Public Communications Achievement Award, and her Smart Irrigation Month marketing campaign was selected as the best water conservation campaign of the year by the national Irrigation Association.
Following a nearly ten-year career at the water agency, Jessica started her own communications consulting company, Hanley Communications. Through this consultancy she assisted medium-to-large water utilities and a handful of private and non-profit clients with digital marketing, customer communications, and branding initiatives.
In 2017, Ms. Ouwerkerk created Evoque Communications, a boutique communications firm specializing in public relations, marketing, and event planning, with an emphasis on the water industry.
Jessica is a firm believer in the value of education. She holds a Bachelors degree in Sociology from University of California, Los Angeles; a Certificate in Marketing from University of California, Irvine; and a Masters degree in Communication Management from the University of Southern California. Her areas of expertise include strategic communication plans, water conservation marketing, writing, and stakeholder collaboration.
When not helping clients achieve their communications goals, Jessica can be found on the tennis courts, hiking/biking trails and ski slopes of Colorado. She also enjoys cooking, good wine, and spending time with her husband and their two daughters. She frequently travels to California to meet with clients and visit family.
